How to unlock bootloader of Xiaomi Devices.

In this we will learn what is bootloader and and how it can be unlocked. so we will discuss in this thread.

What is Boootloader ?

The bootloader is a program that starts whenever a device is powered on to activate the right operating system. It is therefore not only a trait reserved for Android but also one that can find out all devices with an operating, be it a smartphone, a tablet, a PC, etc.

Why Xiaomi devices comes with locked bootloader?

Manufacturers lock the bootloader of their devices so that only the operating system installed on the device can be used. Not all brand acts in the same way either: some manufacturers release their smartphones with the bootloader already unlocked (to the delight of most computer geeks). Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install unauthorized software, this operation voids the warranty of your device.

Advantages of unlocking bootloader : 

• You can flash custom ROMs on your device.
• You can flash custom recovery on device like TWRP/Orange fox etc.
• You can flash Stock MIUI.
• If you unlock your device, you will be on safer side.
• And if you want to re-lock bootloader, then you can re-lock anytime.

Requirements :

1. You should have patience because for Unlocking permission you have to wait for 7 days or 3 days depending on devices model.
2. A working PC with xiaomi drivers installed.
3. MI unlock tool 
4. Phone should be charged at least 60%.
5. MI account  will be required, if not then create and log it on your device.
6. All things like E-mal, phone number should be verified on MI account.
7. You must have internet connection in your sim card that is verified in MI Account.

Steps to unlock bootloader :

**unlocking of bootloader will erase all of your device data, so take backup first, I am not responsible for bricked devices.

1. In your phone go to settings, then open about device, then tap 7 times on MIUI version, after that you will see 'now you are developer'.
2. Now go to Additional Settings, then open developer options, then tap on Allow OEM unlocking & enable it, then tap on MI unlock status, here agree that, and tap on add device.
3. After that you will see account added successfully, and from phone side everything is done.
4. Now power-off your device, then press and hold volume down + power button for few seconds, release when you see fastboot logo.
5. Now in pc extract the mi unlock tool file, after extract open the mi unlock folder, then open mi USB driver, after opening you will see connect your device.

6. while your device in fastboot mode, connect it to PC using USB cable, you'll see installing driver, then after successfull installation MI drive Installed , if not then plug-out device and plug-in again.
7. Now open mi flash unlock, add your Mi account which is signed in device, then click on unlock button, it will get warnings just accept that, then it will start.

8. Now after 100% loading if you see wait for 168 hours etc, then you have to wait for that time, plug-out your phione hold power button for 10-15 seconds it will reboot to system.
9. When that given time is completed then try again steps 6-7, after that you will see devices unlocked successfully, your data will be wiped automatically..
10. In mi flash unlock tool you'll see reboot device, just select it,  after that your device will be reboot, you will see unlocked logo with Mi.com or Redmi logo.
11. Now you have unlocked bootloader successfully.

Note : 

• You can not bypass that give time
• If you having error while adding account in mi unlock, then try it again by removing mi account from device and add it again.
• Only use mobile data while adding account to mi unlock status.
• If you are using Windows 7 then you'll not get error in driver installation, but if you are using WIndows 8.1 or 10 then first disable driver signature enforcement (Google it).
